The brain is the control center of the body that sends messages to the vital organs to function. It's the one organ the commands your heart to beat, your hands to move, legs to walk, lungs to inhale and exhale, and the other actions your body is capable of performing. But how do you know where to indicate the specific portions of the brain that performs a certain function?
The anatomy of the human brain concerns the structure of the brain. It presents a picture of the human brain and indicates the name for each portion of the brain.
Keep in mind that functions and structures are two different things, but they work together hand-in-hand to clarify understanding. Functions of the human brain can is classified in human brain physiology, while the structure of the brain is classified under human brain anatomy.
The human brain includes the frontal lobe, motor cortex, sensory cortex, sensory cortex, parietal lobe, wernicke's area, occipital lobe, cerebellum, brain stem, temporal lobe and broca's area.
The frontal lobe can be found on the front portion of the head. The parietal lobe can be found on the upper back potions of the head. The motor cortex and sensory cortex can be found in the mid-section of the head between the frontal lobe and parietal lobe. Right under the frontal lobe, motor cortex, sensory cortex and parietal lobe is the temporal lobe.
Located at the back middle portion of the head is the occipital lobe. Located at the lower back portion of the head is the cerebellum and stemming from the bottom of the brain is the brain stem. Broca's area is almost embodied by the frontal lobe.
In order to actually know the structure of a brain, you have to see it through illustrations, pictures or a real sample. Brain anatomy is used to pinpoint the certain areas of the brain that perform specific functions. Its just like a map.
